Dr. Martin Bui was born and raised in Mississauga ON Canada. Martin’s passion for Physical Therapy and human movement started early in high school, where he sustained various injuries through rugby and volleyball. The time spent with his physical therapist rehabilitating these injuries gave him an appreciation for the role PT’s play in returning athletes to sport. Martin then went on to receive his clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy from D’Youville College in Buffalo New York at the end of 2015.
Martin strongly believes in the art and science of Physical Therapy to rehabilitate. His treatment philosophy is based on the complexity and adaptable nature of the human body. The path to recovery is best facilitated through education. He uses an eclectic approach including soft tissue mobilization, manual stretching, dry needling, and corrective exercises using strength and conditioning principles. Treatment is aimed to recalibrate and improve performance devoid of pain.
Prior to Crossfit Martin was your everyday gym goer and rec sport weekend warrior. Martin found CrossFit due to lack of variety in his workouts and was seeking a greater challenge with his fitness. He was quickly humbled by the skills tested in each WOD and has never looked back. He was motivated to work on his own movement deficiencies and set personal goals within the sport. He enjoys how Crossfit provides a welcoming community for all fitness levels and the common goal of seeking self improvement through fitness. He understands how intense and strenuous each WOD can be, and wants to help YOU identify the source of your movement dysfunction to achieve your fitness goals pain-free.
Skye is originally from Pennsylvania. She was a competitive gymnast for 11 years until injuries ultimately forced her to retire. She moved across the country for a new adventure and attended Arizona State University graduating with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology. During her time at ASU, Skye became bored with her typical exercise routine consisting of treadmills, machines, and working out by herself. In 2013 she found CrossFit.
It was the constant challenge, personal growth, and supportive community that drew her to the sport. It filled her needs as an ex-gymnast to keep up with things like handstands and pullups. After college Skye went to grad school at the University of Southern California and earned her clinical Doctor of Physical Therapy. While in school she continued training at different CrossFit gyms and learned how each is unique.
Through her experiences Skye has become passionate about helping CrossFitters of all levels. She understands how intimidating it is to walk into your first class, use only a PVC pipe, have no idea what the movements are, and still feel like you are dying during the WOD. For those of you who are more experienced, she has also participated in several local competitions. She understands your frustrations with nagging aches and pains that come up from pushing yourself to the limit during competition training.
Skye’s philosophy is to create a specific plan and guide you through your healing process consisting of hands-on treatments and corrective exercise prescriptions. As pain is decreased, she will continue providing services and coaching to help you reach your ultimate goals. Goals could be losing weight, improving efficiency for competition, or even maintenance work so you can have an active lifestyle with your gym buddies for many years to come.
